Come and rediscover the gift of Mother Earth…in the midst of the California climate. Participants will revisit the dance of creation, the dance of Miriam at the time of Exodus and the spirituality of the Desert Mothers. Dancers of all levels, liturgists, musicians, artists and poets of faith will come together to translate our care and love for Mother Earth into movement reflective of God’s creative energy in our humanity. Participants will have the opportunity to offer the work of previous days in a worshipful setting. Bring comfortable clothes.
Fee: $275.00 private room
$225.00 shared room per person

Join dancers, musicians, artists, liturgists, and poets of faith to dance and sing ancient psalms and contemporary songs that call us to creativity and prayer. Our work will remind us of our unity with all of Creation; will help us recharge our energies and commitment to renew the face of the earth.
In the spirit of "Laudato Si," songs and dances will be offered in thanksgiving and praise for God's Sacred Creation and our kinship with it. The days are full of dance, prayer, reflection, and fellowship. Participants will have the opportunity to offer the work of their days in a beautiful outdoor setting of St. Andrew’s Abbey. Bring comfortable clothes to explore nature and to move with ease.

The dance company will serve as ministers of Liturgical movement for the Opening Ceremony,
in the Friday and Saturday Spanish and English Liturgies; Sunday closing liturgies.
They will offer a workshop on Saturday as well participate in evening concert with Val Jan

No matter how long the cold, bleak days of winter may continue, winter always turns to spring. This is the law of the universe and the law of life. As long as we hold on to hope, spring is sure to come.

Come to the Abbey for this mid-winter workshop to pulse, breathe and rhythmically move one another into the hope in front of us, into the sacred encounter with the dream God calls us to be. Dancers, musicians, artists, liturgists and poets of faith are called together this weekend to translate hope into art and prayer reflective of God’s creative presence in all of humankind.

The phrase “the dance of life” seems natural to us in some ways, but what if we really work to define our personal choreographies and the “times” when we are called into a different rhythmic setting, just as Ecclesiastes projects?
Come join companions of like mind as we enter into this very human contemplation of the movements of our lives.
50 years ago the Valyermo Dancers were ushered by Frs. Vincent and Werner of the then St. Andrew’s Priory onto a spiritual mission and journey to make, in the words of Joan Chittister, “the transcendent visible, to touch the soul in ways that match the soul...” through the Art of Sacred Dance. We were challenged to be brave enough to take our sacred art even into places that were not primed to receive it.
So many of you website visitors have helped us meet that challenge with grace and blessings.
